HiDream.ai launches vivago R1 for full AI video production
A new AI agent lets creators make complete five-minute videos from a single chat — no more stitching clips together by hand.
HiDream.ai has made its AI video creation tool, vivago R1, available to users around the world. The platform lets a creator describe a video idea in plain language and receive a finished short film, not just a string of disconnected clips.
Agents Behind the Scenes
Most current AI video tools generate short shots — often just 15 to 30 seconds at a time. Building a full video from those shots still requires a human to plan the story, keep characters looking the same, and sync sound. R1 tries to automate that planning step.
The system runs a lead agent that reads the user's brief and writes a production plan. Smaller specialized agents then handle individual jobs: writing the script, drawing storyboards, designing characters and environments, and generating audio. HiDream calls the layer that keeps all of these agents working together HD-AgentOS 1.
The tool can produce videos up to five minutes long in a single workflow, and users can continue building the project through additional rounds of creation 1. Creators can supply reference images, documents, or existing video clips, and the platform keeps those materials inside the project so later instructions build on earlier decisions 2.
Chat-First Editing
Revisions happen through conversation rather than a chain of menu clicks. A user can ask for a scene to be rewritten, a storyboard frame to change, or a visual element to be updated, and the platform carries out the request 2.
A library called SkillHub provides ready-made workflows for common tasks such as product ads or narrative shorts 2. Approved assets — characters, locations, props, voices — can be saved and reused in later projects, and serialized content can carry the same characters and settings from one episode to the next .
Early examples shared by HiDream include a nearly five-minute story inspired by the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West and a commercial following a designer who captures daily ideas with a red foldable phone 2.
A CLI for Developers
HiDream is also opening access through a command-line interface, or CLI, which lets developers and other AI agents call vivago's video production capabilities from scripts, task queues, and compatible general-purpose AI systems 4. A marketing team, for instance, could develop the overall campaign concept inside its normal workflow and hand off video production to R1 at the right stage .
The Coming Model Update
HiDream plans to integrate its native HiDream-O1-Video-1.0 model into R1 in an upcoming update 1. At launch, that model ranked fourth globally on the Artificial Analysis Image to Video Leaderboard and seventh on the Arena.ai Image-to-Video leaderboard . It generates 1080p video with built-in synchronized audio and is designed to improve handling of multimodal instructions, physical behavior, and audiovisual coherence .
